The saloks by Guru Teghbahadar Sahib are a gentle reminder to human beings of the purpose of life, which is to remember and reflect on the virtues of the Divine (IkOankar). The saloks remind us that life is wasted in the entanglements of familial and material attachments if they distract us from our purpose. The saloks inspire us to rise above the attachment of family and temporary material things, and develop a relationship with the Eternal (IkOankar). They gently nudge us to live in IkOankar’s awareness and see the entire world from that place of realization.
