Guru Teghbahadar Sahib reminds beings of the purpose of life, which is to remember and reflect on the virtues of IkOankar (the Divine). The saloks describe how life is wasted in the entanglements of familial and material attachments distracting from the purpose of life. They inspire seekers to search for deeper meaning beyond the attachment to family and temporary material things and develop a relationship with IkOankar. These saloks gently nudge seekers to live in awareness of IkOankar and see the entire world from that place of realization.

In the fifty-fourth stanza, Guru Teghbahadar says, when through Grace, spiritual strength is received, all bondages of material attachment are removed. Then, all efforts become fruitful, and everything becomes possible. Everything is under the command of IkOankar; IkOankar alone is the support of everyone.

The Guru says that when we take refuge, we gain our strength back. This strength is not physical but spiritual. We bring fruitfulness into our lives. We gain everything back, and all entanglements dissipate. Everything is in the Command of the One. The One is the helper. This stanza contrasts with previous stanzas, where the only change is where we keep our refuge or what our sanctuary is. Now we are in the sanctuary of the 1-Light.

Because everything is in the Command of the One, we do not ask why this did not happen earlier. We can take this refuge any time. It is not that we did not do it earlier, we did not ask, we did not make our efforts, it is that we did not feel the Grace yet. When we feel the Grace, we regain our strength, our efforts become fruitful, and all things become possible. What efforts are we putting in to feel that Grace? Grace is always available to us, but are we feeling its effects?
